There are many NTA members that organize and offer rail adventures in North America and around the world. That group includes companies offering everything from multi-day, multi-destination tours to those providing shorter sightseeing excursions showcasing natural beauty and historical sites.

And when we asked a few about their favorite view from aboard their train, here's what they said:

"It’s hard to name just one! As the train travels through unspoiled farm lands on the Conway Valley excursion, there’s a sweeping view of Mt. Washington in the distance. On the Notch Train, crossing Willey Brook Bridge offers beautiful, rugged mountain views as passengers look into the valley far below."

"The amazing thing about the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is that the scenery changes dramatically throughout the journey, and nothing is repeated. So, my favorite view aboard our train is from the open gondola, open to everyone, so I have a 360-degree view all of the 64 miles!"

"My favorite view from the train itself is pictured here. This vantage point looks out over Burt’s Ravine and the Presidential Mountains in the distance. This view can change in a moment’s time with the constantly changing weather. One might see a hiker moving in the sun along the Jewell Trail ridge one minute, and then that hiker will be completely engulfed in cloud. It is active and intriguing on any day of the year. “

White Pass & Yukon Route Railway

"Each bend in the track reveals breathtaking vistas as the train travels up the White Pass. The landscape is rugged and wild. The sheer size of the mountains and tough granite rock makes each guest realize what a feat of engineering it took to build the railroad over 120 years ago."
